Ryhme of November Stars
by Sara Teasdale

The noiseless marching of the stars
Sweeps above me all night long;
Up the skies, over the skies,
Passes the uncounted throng,
Without haste, without rest,
From the east to the west:
Vega, Deneb, white Altair
Shine like crystals in the air,
And the lonely Fomalhaut
In the dark south, paces low.
Now the timid Pleiades
Leave the shelter of the trees,
While toward the north, mounting high,
Gold Capella, like a queen,
Watches over her demesne
Stretching toward the kingly one,
Dusky, dark Aldebaran.
Betelguese and Rigel burn
In their wide wheel, slow to turn,
And in the sharp November frost
Bright Sirius, with his blue light
Completes the loveliness of night.

Fabulous Weather = No Blogging

We have been enjoying a run of absolutely wonderful weather here and have been enjoying every minute of it after a winter of unprecedented snowfall and a summer of record rain! We've been washing windows and raking leaves and knocking down cobwebs and playing at the lake.....

Update

We are doing better here. The boys are pretty much over the flu with just a slight cough left. I have what appears to be a common, garden variety cold that has me sneezing and coughing but otherwise okay. We did manage to do school a couple of days this week but, alas, no Ocular Athletics...

Third Hobbit Down

It's turned into sick week here at the Hobbit Homeschool. Swine flu is still the most probably diagnosis. It's not so bad. Headache and fever followed by sore throat and cough. And no energy which is very unusual around here! We've been watching alot of movies--The Return of the King, Ivanhoe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, 300 Spartans, and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Alarmingly, I'm actually liking this! No dividing fractions or getting our declension endings right! I've caught up with a few (okay, more than a few!) blogs, tackled a couple of house keeping chores I've been putting off (or how thick is the algae in this fish tank??)started online Christmas shopping...I would think we have the makings of unschoolers if I thought the low energy would last but I know soon enough they will be clammering for stuff to do. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying the quiet!

Sick Day

I have two hobbits down for the count and one that is not any too lively. The big question is...Is it Swine Flu or not?? I checked online and found these symptoms:

Fever-check

Cough--check

Sore throat--check

Runny/stuffy nose--check

Body aches--check

Headache--check

Chills--check

Fatigue--check

Diarrhea or vomiting--check for one hobbit but not the other.

Hmmm. Maybe or maybe not. In any event today is a day for the extended edition of The Lord of the Rings.

Poetry Monday

Autumn by Emily Dickenson

The morns are meeker than they were,
The nuts are getting brown;
The berry's cheek is plumper,
The rose is out of town.

The maple wears a gayer scarf,
The field a scarlet gown.
Lest I should be old-fashioned,
I'll put a trinket on.
